There are way too many photos. I'm so sorry. I'm playing catch up.
We spent our last couple of days in Foligno, mostly inside due to chicken pox. After too many days of extreme heat and being cooped up, we ventured out by car to Tuscany with my mom. We drove out to Montepulciano (sp?), mostly because it was a destination in an air-conditioned car. We had read about it in an article. It was a beautiful (how many times can I use that word) little hill town. We drove by fields of sunflowers, rolled hay, zipping along with just small city signs to guide us. Mark is a natural driving in Italy.
Friday the 20th we decided that Max and Ella were passed their most contagious point and we left for Rome. The kids, though covered in Pox for the past week, have been energetic, and without flu symptoms. Keeping them trapped up has been quite difficult.
Rome was Friday evening through Monday--Spanish steps, Fountain of Trevi (we all tossed coins), Pantheon, Vatican City (though no Sistine Chapel) and the Colosseum. It was 95 degrees, humid, dirty, amazing, awe inspiring, crowded, touristy...Rome.
This morning, Tuesday the 24th, I am laying in bed in a city I've never been to before, in a country I've never been to before. I am sooooo excited. Madrid, Spain. We arrived late last night at 1:30am. and promptly collapsed in our room at the Hotel Europa.
more later...
