We went to dinner last night at this beautiful restaurant outside the town of Trevi, which is built on a hill and looks like something out of a fairytale; a photo would never do it justice. We sat outside in a garden terrace overlooking the town of Trevi on one side, watching as the sun set, throwing gorgeous light all over the buildings. The other side of the terrace were the fields and mountains of Umbria. Every few minutes my head would swivel from side to side to capture the light in both areas. The antipasti plate had several different cheeses, 2 types of prosciutto, melon, garbanzo beans with rosemary and olive oil (yum, yum and more yum), and so much more, though no olives. Main course was gnocchi with gorgonzola (oh boy). Desert was panna cotta with berries (which, while good, could not compare with my gnocchi).
Today, I actually slept in until 11am (a full 8 hours sleep, thank you very much) and we went to a pool with a gorgeous view, beautiful water and sandwiches (panini). It was very crowded, but the italians were wonderful to watch (gorgeous skin, hair, and bodies for the most part). Everyone is required to wear bathing caps and flip flops around the pool--but the water is incredibly clean. The weather has been in the 80s and 90s with a lot of humidity. For the most part, I love it. My new words--eroe (hero), te detenato(sp?)- (decaf tea).
